The Palo Alto Knights are the founding association of the American Youth Football’s (AYF)’s new NorCal region, becoming an anchor association in the AYFs expansion into Northern California. We are very excited to be such an important part of the AYF’s growth.

Pee Wee Team Places Second (Nov 13)


The Pee Wee team lost in the championship game, resulting in 2nd place overall in Northern California.


Knights Win Second Round Playoffs, Advance to Northern California / NW Regional Playoffs (Nov 7)

The Knights JPW and PW teams were victorious in their games against Oak Grove Central and Antelope - enabling them to advance to the final round of Northern California / North West Region playoffs.  The JM team also traveled to Sacramento for their game against Antelope but lost in a close game.


Be sure to plan a trip to Oakland on Saturday, Nov 13, and cheer on the Knights against Oak Grove South for both the JPW and PW games at McClymonds High School - kickoffs are noon and 2pm.

32 Top High School Players and Earl Hansen - Special Guests For Knights End-Of-Season Banquet

17 Knights Alum Named High School All-League

The Palo Alto Knights held their annual end-of-season banquet on Jan 27, with special guests Earl Hansen (coach 2010 California state high school Division I champions) and 32 of the top area high school football players.  In 2010, 17 Knights alum were named All-League and 22 Knights alum were part of the Palo Alto High School Div I championship team.


Special awards were presenting to Jill Spain and Tench Coxe.  Jill was presented the Manzaneres Award for her outstanding long term volunteer role with the Knights.  Tench was awarded the Perritt Award for exemplary coaching.

Advances to national championship playoffs

The Palo Alto Knights' youth football program is headed back to the AYF Under Armour National Championships following a thrilling 18-12 victory over the Oak Grove Rattlers in the NorCal Championships on Saturday at McClymonds High in Oakland.

Representing the Knights will be their Jr. Pee Wee team, which remained undefeated this season. Palo Alto will travel to Orlando, Fla., for the national playoffs from Dec. 5-8. This will be the program's eighth trip in the past 12 years, with current Jr. Pee Wees' coach Mike Piha coaching five of those squads. The Knights have finished second three times.

2011 Home / Away Game Schedule Released

Knights host Jamboree, four regular season games and playoffs

NorCal AYF has released the 2011 Home/Away schedule for 2011.  The Palo Alto Knights (PAK) will be hosting the Jamboree, four regular season games and the first round of playoffs.  See the Knights Calendar for the schedule, read across the 8th team row - PAK.  The Jamboree will be held at its usual time - the last weekend in August.  First games start the following weekend, Labor Day weekend.  The final regular season game takes place during the October 22/23 weekend, followed by three weekends of playoffs.  The NorCal champion will advance to the National Championships in Florida.

The 9th Grade Unlimited game is scheduled for Saturday September 24th at 5:30 PM at Palo Alto High School, come out and show your support.

Five Knights Teams In Hunt For National Championship

First round of playoffs this weekend


All five competitive Palo Alto Knights teams have made the playoffs this year, with the instructional team - Tiny Mites - playing in Tiny Mite Bowl.


Games start at 12:30pm on Sunday at Palo Alto High School on Sunday, Oct 30.  Cadet and Jr Midget will play at 4pm and 6pm at Oak Grove High School.

The Cadets head into the playoffs with a 5-3 record, the Jr. Pee Wee team is 5-3, the Pee Wee squad is 6-2, while the Jr. Midgets are 4-4 and the Unlimited squad is 8-0.

This is the first season that Palo Alto has offered an "unlimited" All-American team with mostly eighth graders and a few ninth-grade students. The team has 23 players with its offensive line averaging 240 pounds. In addition to being 8-0, the Knights have allowed only four touchdowns.

The Palo Alto Unlimited team will enter the playoffs as the No. 1 seed and the favorite to advance to the National Championships in Orlando, Fla..

Three Knights Teams Headed to Northern California Championship Games

National Championship just two wins away


Three Knights teams were victorious this weekend in the first round of playoffs.  The Cadets traveled to San Jose to upset the hosting Oak Grove South team with a score of 14-6, while the Knights Pee Wees beat the visiting Oakland Dynamites 30-0.  The undefeated 9th Grade Unlimited steamrolled the visiting San Lorenzo Rebels 40-0.


Both the Cadets and Pee Wee teams will visit the hosting Oak Grove teams November 6th for the Northern California Championship game.  The victor of the Northern California Championship game will face the top Sacramento team for the Mountain West Championship Game on November 13th.

The Knights’ Jr Pee Wee and Jr Midget teams battled close games against Oakland and Oak Grove but came up short.

Jr Pee Wee trailed by just 6 points going into the final minutes.  A bad bounce on the Knights’ on-sides kick resulted in Oakland field position deep in Knights territory, with an ensuring touchdown to seal the game.

The Jr Midget team nearly pulled off an upset against the hosting, 2nd ranked Oak Grove West team, falling by 14-18.

Knights Win Northern California Sectional Championship

The Knights Pee Wee team was victorious over undefeated Oak Grove South, delivering a solid 14-0 win on a cold November evening under the Sunday night lights.  The Mountain Northwest Region Championship game is against the Grant Chargers on Sunday, November 13th at Oak Grove High School.  The winner of the Regional Championship goes on to Florida for the AYF National Championship!


The Knights Cadets also played in the Northern California Sectional Championships but fell to Oak Grove West 6-26.


The undefeated Knights 9th Grade Unlimited team enjoyed a bye this weekend, they face either South Sacramento or Vallejo on November 12 at Elk Grove High School (Sacramento).


National Championship Bound!!

Pee Wee & 9th Grade Unlimited Teams Win Mountain Northwest Region Championship


Both the Palo Alto Knights Pee Wee and 9th Grade Unlimited teams have clinched the AYF Mountain Northwest Region titles.  The Pee Wee team crushed the visiting Grant Chargers 32-0, while the 9th Grade Unlimited has a close game under the lights, toping the Vallejo Jaguars 18-12.


The Knights are in need of support to assist in financing the trip to Florida, a week-long stay that will cost $50,000 for both teams. Donation can be sent to:

National Championship Update (Dec 5, 2011)

Pee Wee & 9th Grade Unlimited Win First Round Games


The Palo Alto Knights achieved their first victory in Florida on Sunday, as the Pee Wee team defeated the Harlem Jets with a score of 28 - 0.  The 9th Grade Unlimited team was victorious over the N. England Fairlawn Cardinals with a score of 12 - 6.   Both teams advance to the Semi-Finals, with Pee Wee team playing Tuesday at noon ET and 9th Grade Unlimited team playing on Wednesday at 4pm ET.

National Championship Update (Dec 7, 2011)

Tough Losses for Knights in Second Round


The Palo Alto Knights teams suffered tough losses in the second round of the Championship series on Tuesday and Wednesday.  The Pee Wees fell 16-30 to the South East Valley Thunder and 9th Grade Unlimited fell 14-28 to the Poinciana Predators.

The Knights Pee Wees led at the half 8-6 but couldn’t put enough points on the board after a number of big plays by the Thunder.

9th Grade Unlimited Knights were tied with the Predators with just 5:48 left in the 4th quarter, on the Predator’s 1 yard line about to score, but a Knights fumble was picked up by a Predator defender and returned 99 yards for the score.  The ensuing Knights drive after the kickoff was cut short by a Predator interception, which was returned for a touchdown.

Knights Pee Wee & 9th Grade Unlimited Teams Finish Season - 5th in Nation!

The Palo Alto Knights Pee Wee and 9th Grade Unlimited teams finished their week at the AYF Championship, each completing a season ranked 5th in the nation.


The Pee Wee final game in Florida in the third round was a close one - but resulted in a loss to the Mesa Soldiers 6-8.


The 9th Grade Unlimited final game in Florida in the third round was also a close one - but resulted in a loss to the Kissimmee Cowboys 20-28.
